BMW iX2 TPMS Warning: Real Owner Experiences Needed

Thanks for jumping in! My iX2 has been fantastic up until this problem (76,985 km on the clock, last serviced two weeks ago). The warning actually pops up for just the front right tire, and it started quite suddenly during my morning drive. I did check the pressure manually, and surprisingly, it's spot on according to specs. That's what made me think it might be a sensor issue rather than an actual pressure problem. Really appreciate you sharing your experience with the i4 sensor issue. Good to know it could be something as simple as a battery replacement. Did your workshop mention how long the reprogramming process took? I'm trying to figure out if I need to block out a full day or if it's a quick fix. Also, this TPMS warning is the only glitch I've experienced, the car has been absolutely brilliant otherwise. The instant torque still puts a smile on my face every time!

Hey again! Thanks for those details about your iX2. You know what's funny? I had almost exactly the same thing happen with my i4, it was also the front right sensor that went haywire, and it happened right after hitting about 75,000 km. Talk about coincidence! The reprogramming at my workshop was actually pretty quick, took them about an hour total. Most of that time was them double-checking everything to make sure the new sensor was playing nice with the car's system. You definitely won't need a full day, I dropped mine off in the morning and had it back before lunch. Since you mentioned yours started suddenly and the pressure's actually fine when measured manually, I'd bet good money it's the same sensor battery issue I had. Especially since it's acting up with just that one tire. These sensors are usually super reliable, but they do have their moments! And totally get what you mean about the instant torque, that's one thing I absolutely love about these EVs. Even after all this time, it never gets old, does it? Really glad the rest of your iX2 is running smoothly. These new BMW EVs are pretty solid overall, just occasional electronic gremlins like this TPMS thing to keep us on our toes!

Thanks for all that detailed info! Super helpful to hear it was a quick fix for your i4. I've actually gone ahead and booked mine in for tomorrow morning, the workshop said they can squeeze me in first thing, which is perfect. Really interesting that you had the same issue at around the same mileage. Makes me feel better knowing it's probably just a standard maintenance thing rather than anything more serious. And you're absolutely right about these EVs, even with the occasional sensor problem, I wouldn't trade the driving experience for anything. Seriously appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I'll update once it's sorted, but I'm betting you're spot on about it being a sensor battery issue. Thanks again for helping me avoid the headache of trying to figure this out on my own! This type of exchange is exactly why I love the EV community, always ready to help with real experience rather than just speculation. Cheers!

Hey there! I have some experience with EVs and their quirks. I had a similar issue with my 2022 BMW i4 (love the BMW electric lineup, also considered the iX3). The TPMS warning drove me crazy for a few days. Turned out the sensor battery was completely dead, these things usually last years but can fail earlier. Took it to my regular workshop, and they confirmed my suspicion. They had to replace the sensor battery, reprogram it, and sync it with the car's system. Cost me about 280 Euro but totally worth the peace of mind. Before I can help more specifically, could you share: Have you checked if this happens with all tires or just one? Did the warning appear suddenly or gradually? Are your tire pressures actually correct when measured manually? BTW, how are you liking the iX2 otherwise? Been curious about that model.
