BMW iX3 Climate Control System Total Failure Help

Hey everyone! Having trouble with my 2022 BMW iX3 (157k km) and need some advice. The climate control system's acting up, windows keep fogging despite auto settings, AC won't turn on, and both spray nozzles and mirror heating are dead. Got an error code stored too. I'm thinking it might be the fog sensor, but after a bad experience with my previous mechanic, I want to hear from others who've dealt with similar issues. Any suggestions on the likely cause or recommendations for getting it fixed? Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW iX last winter. Initially thought it was something major, but turned out to be a loose connection in the climate control module wiring harness. The symptoms were nearly identical, foggy windows, no AC response, and non-functional auxiliary features. The stored error code pointed to a communication fault. The fix wasn't complicated, the technician traced it to corroded pins in the main connector block. They cleaned the contacts and replaced the damaged connector. While not a serious mechanical issue, it could've led to more problems if left unchecked. My suggestion would be to have a certified technician check the wiring connections first before replacing any sensors. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful. I'm dealing with pretty much the exact same symptoms with my iX3 right now. Good to know it might just be a wiring issue rather than something more serious. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much the repair cost you? Also, has everything been working fine since they fixed it, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up?

Hey there! Happy to give you an update on how it all turned out. Since the repair, everything's been working perfectly, no more fogging issues or climate control problems at all. The mechanic found it was indeed just a faulty connection, pretty much exactly like what I had suspected. They fixed the cable connection and replaced a worn-out plug that was causing the fog sensor to act up. The total bill came to 95€, which honestly wasn't bad at all considering I was worried it might be something much more expensive. Been about six months now since the fix, and I haven't had a single problem with any of those systems. AC works great, windows stay clear, and all the auxiliary features are back to normal. Definitely a relief it wasn't anything more serious! My advice would be to just get it checked out sooner rather than later, these small electrical issues can sometimes get worse if left alone. Let me know how yours turns out!

Just wanted to update everyone on my BMW situation! Finally took it to the shop last week, and I'm really glad I asked here first. Turns out you were spot on, it was mainly an electrical issue. The mechanic found some corroded wiring connections and a damaged connector near the climate control module. The fog sensor was actually fine, which was a relief. The whole thing took about two hours to fix. They cleaned up the connections, replaced the damaged parts, and ran a full diagnostic check. Cost me about 120 bucks, way less than I was expecting to pay! Everything's working perfectly now. The AC's blowing cold, windows are staying clear, and all those extra features are back online. Such a relief it wasn't anything major. Thanks again for the advice, saved me from unnecessarily replacing expensive parts. Goes to show sometimes the simplest explanation really is the right one!
