Thanks for your input! My M2 has 47437 KM on the clock and had its last service about 4 months back. Really helpful to hear about your M4 experience. Actually, I am hearing a slight squeal when braking, but only when the pedal is pressed halfway. No squealing during light braking or when pressed fully. Guess I better get this checked out soon, especially since it's my daily driver. Would rather fix it now than risk bigger issues down the road.

Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up info about your M2. those symptoms are even more similar to what I experienced than I initially thought! My M4 had almost the same mileage (around 45k) when this happened, and that specific squeal at half-brake pressure was exactly what I dealt with too. Just to share more from my experience, when I first noticed these symptoms, I also considered the brake fluid level like you mentioned. But in my case, it turned out the brake pads were worn unevenly, which caused that weird feedback and the intermittent squealing. The uneven wear was apparently due to some sticky calipers. The total repair ended up including: New brake pads, Caliper service (they were partially seized), Rotor resurfacing, Fresh brake fluid Since your symptoms are so similar, and considering your mileage, I'd bet you're looking at something very close to what I had. The good news is that catching it early like this probably means you won't need new rotors like I did. Quick tip though, when you take it in, ask them to check the brake fluid lines too. While they're in there, it's worth having everything inspected. Better safe than sorry with brakes, right?

Thanks so much for all that detailed info! That's super helpful, especially the breakdown of what your repair included. You're right about being better safe than sorry with brakes, I'll definitely have them check the fluid lines too. I've actually just booked it in for tomorrow morning at my regular workshop. Hopefully, catching it early means I won't need to replace the rotors like you did. The fact that our cars had such similar symptoms at almost the same mileage really puts my mind at ease, at least I know what I might be dealing with. I'll let them know about the sticky caliper possibility too. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!

Hey there! I've got some experience with brake issues (some basic car maintenance knowledge here). Actually, faced something very similar with my 2015 M4 last year. Getting that brake warning light is definitely concerning! From what you're describing, it sounds just like what I dealt with. My brake pads were completely worn out, and I also had that weird pedal feedback. Took it to my regular workshop, and they confirmed the pads needed replacement, plus the rotors were pretty worn too. The whole job cost me around 480 Euro, but it was worth every penny for the peace of mind. To help you better, could you share: Current mileage on your M2? When was your last brake service? Are you hearing any squealing sounds when braking? Hope this helps! Let me know those details, and I can share more specific info about my experience.
