BMW M2 Error Message: System Check Dilemma

Hey all! Having some trouble with my 2022 BMW M2 (gas) and need your input. Getting error messages in both the error memory and speedometer display. Car has 122,957 KM on it. Last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Anyone dealt with a system readiness check incomplete error on their M2? What was the actual issue and did you find a reliable mechanic to fix it? Thanks in advance for any help! -Mark

I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW M4 last month. The system readiness error popped up along with the check engine light. After diagnostics, it turned out to be a faulty O2 sensor and a damaged catalytic converter. These components weren't working properly, causing incomplete emissions monitoring. The repair was quite serious since the cat converter is a crucial emissions control component. Had it fixed at a certified BMW specialist after getting a second opinion. The whole repair took about two days. If you're seeing similar symptoms, I'd recommend finding a certified BMW technician who can properly diagnose and fix it. These system readiness issues usually indicate emissions-related problems that need proper attention.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That definitely sounds similar to what I'm dealing with. Good to know about the O2 sensor and cat converter, makes sense why the system's throwing these errors. Would you mind sharing how much you ended up paying for the repairs? Also curious if you've had any other issues pop up since getting it fixed?

Happy to follow up! Since getting my M4 checked out last month, I'm glad to report the system readiness error is completely gone. The mechanic ran a thorough OBD2 diagnostic and fixed the issue without any charges, turns out it was just a minor software glitch that needed resetting, not the worst-case scenario I initially thought with the O2 sensor and cat converter. I've put about 2,000 KM on it since then and everything's running smoothly, no warning lights or new issues. The engine's performing great and the emissions system is working as it should. I really lucked out that it wasn't anything serious! If you're still seeing the error, I'd definitely recommend getting it properly diagnosed. Sometimes these things can be simple fixes rather than major repairs. Let me know how it goes!

Well, you inspired me to bite the bullet and try a new mechanic. Took it in yesterday and wow, what a different experience! The guy actually spent time explaining everything and running proper diagnostics. Turns out it was just a loose connection in the emissions sensor and some outdated software. Fixed both issues in about an hour, way better than I expected! Only cost me a fraction of what I was worried about spending. Car's running like new now. No more error messages, and the check engine light has stayed off. Such a relief it wasn't anything major like a catalytic converter replacement. Really appreciate you sharing your experience. Helped me find the courage to try someone new, and it definitely paid off! This new mechanic is a keeper for sure. Nice to finally find someone who knows what they're doing with these cars.
