BMW M2 Owners: Misfiring and Rough Running Problems?

Hey everyone, having some trouble with my 2022 M2. The engine's acting up with bad throttle response, running rough, and jerking during acceleration. Check engine light is also on. I suspect it's combustion misfires but want to hear from others who've dealt with similar symptoms. Did you get it fixed, and what was the actual problem? Any workshop experiences or tips would be really helpful.

Hey there! Got some experience with cars and had a similar issue with my 2020 M4. Totally get your frustration! Actually, had the exact same symptoms, rough running, jerking, and that annoying check engine light. Turned out it was a faulty injector. Got it fixed at my local BMW workshop last month, cost me around 515 Euro, but it's running smooth as butter now. They had to replace the defective injection valve and recalibrate the system. Before jumping to conclusions though, could you share: How many miles/km on your M2? When did these symptoms first start? Any other warning lights besides the check engine? With these details, might be able to confirm if we're looking at the same problem. BTW, worth checking if your car's still under warranty, could save you some cash.

Thanks for the detailed response! My M2 has 135188 KM on the clock, and these symptoms started about a week ago. No other warning lights besides the check engine. Had my last service about 2 months ago, everything was fine then. The injector issue you mentioned sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing. Gonna get it checked ASAP since it's still under warranty. Really hoping it's something simple like that and not more serious. Will keep you posted on what they find!

Hey again! Thanks for the update. Yeah, those symptoms with your M2 sound exactly like what I dealt with on my M4. When you mentioned the mileage and timing, it really clicked, my issues started around the 130,000 KM mark too. From my experience with the faulty injector, it's actually pretty common at this mileage. Mine started acting up right after a regular service too, which was weird. The good news is that since you're still under warranty, you're in a much better position than I was! When I took mine in, they ran a diagnostic test first, definitely push them to do that. They might find some other small issues while they're at it. Mine also had some carbon buildup they cleaned out while fixing the injector, which made a huge difference. Quick tip though, if it is the injector, make sure they check all of them, not just the faulty one. I ended up having to go back a month later because another one started acting up. Could've saved some time getting them all inspected at once. Let me know how it goes at the workshop. Really curious if it turns out to be the same issue!

Thanks so much for the heads up about checking all the injectors! Really glad you mentioned that, definitely going to ask them to inspect everything while they're in there. You've honestly been super helpful with all this info. Got my appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning, and I'm feeling much more confident now knowing what to expect and what to ask for. Actually feeling pretty lucky that this happened while I'm still under warranty. Can't imagine having to shell out for these repairs out of pocket! I'll definitely update this thread once I get the diagnosis. Seems like there's a good chance it's the injector issue you mentioned, especially given our similar mileage. Fingers crossed it's a straightforward fix like yours was!
