Thanks for sharing that experience! You really helped put my mind at ease since it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. After reading your response, I'm convinced it might be the same battery-related issue. Quick question, do you remember roughly what the total cost was for the battery replacement and reprogramming? Also, have you had any similar electrical gremlins pop up since the fix? Thanks again!

Hey! Just wanted to follow up, I got my car sorted and it was indeed a battery issue, just like what happened with my M4. They charged me 290 € for the whole job, which included the new battery, programming, and everything. Money well spent if you ask me! The best part is that since getting it fixed, my passenger seat is working perfectly fine now, no more waiting for the engine to start to adjust it. All the memory functions are back to normal too. It's such a relief when these electrical quirks get sorted properly. And to answer your question about any other issues, nope, haven't had a single electrical problem since then. Everything's been running smooth as silk for months now. The key was getting it done at a proper shop that knows their way around BMW electronics. These cars can be pretty particular about their electrical systems, but once you get them sorted, they're solid. Don't hesitate to get yours checked out, it's definitely worth fixing before it starts affecting other systems!

Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update everyone. You were spot on, it was definitely the battery! Had it replaced yesterday and I'm honestly shocked at what a difference it made. The mechanic I found was great, really knew his stuff about BMWs. The whole thing set me back about 300 €, which wasn't as bad as I'd feared. They did the battery swap and reprogramming in about two hours. The funny part was watching all the seats suddenly working perfectly as soon as they finished up. It's like having a new car again! Really glad I asked here before trying unusual fixes. Would've probably wasted time and money going down the wrong path. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction. Time to enjoy my fully functioning M2 again!

I had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW M4 last summer. The seat memory and adjustment functions were acting exactly the same way, only working after engine start. Turned out the battery was severely discharged, which was affecting the comfort access systems. Took it to the garage, and they diagnosed it with a full system scan. The main culprit was the battery not holding proper charge anymore. They had to replace the battery and reprogram the vehicle's power management system. It was a serious job since BMWs need specific programming after battery replacement. Just a heads up, these symptoms are classic signs of a failing battery in BMWs, even if the car still starts fine. The car prioritizes critical functions when battery voltage is low, which is why the seats only work after the engine's running. Get it checked soon before it affects other electrical systems.
