Thanks for sharing your experience, sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with! That's really helpful to know about the clogged hoses and purge valve. Been meaning to ask, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything stayed working properly since then or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Always nervous about related problems showing up later with these kinds of repairs.

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up, since my last post, I took my M4 to that specialist I mentioned and you'll be glad to know everything's been running like a dream. The total repair came to 175 € for fixing those clogged hoses, which honestly wasn't as bad as I expected given the symptoms. The tank ventilation valve issue was definitely the culprit, just as I suspected. They got it all sorted and I haven't had a single problem since the repair, no stalling, no check engine light, nothing. The car feels way more responsive now, especially at idle. Been about 8 months since the fix and absolutely no related issues have popped up. Trust me, I was worried about the same thing, you know how these things sometimes lead to other problems. But nope, it's been smooth sailing. The independent specialist really knew their stuff with BMWs, made all the difference. Worth every penny to have it done right the first time!

Just wanted to update everyone! Finally got my M2 fixed yesterday and wow, what a difference! Took it to a BMW specialist who diagnosed the exact same issue, clogged ventilation hoses and a bad purge valve. The repair cost me about 200€, which wasn't too terrible considering how much better the car runs now. The whole process took about 4 hours. The mechanic was super thorough and even showed me the gunked-up hoses they removed. Really eye-opening to see all that buildup! The car's running perfectly now, no more stalling, check engine light is gone, and it feels much smoother at idle. Can't believe I waited so long to get this fixed. Should've done it sooner instead of worrying about finding the right mechanic. Thanks again for all the advice, really helped me understand what I was dealing with. Guess I'll be doing regular maintenance checks from now on to avoid any similar issues!

I had nearly identical symptoms with my 2019 BMW M4 last summer. The stalling and emergency mode turned out to be clogged fuel tank ventilation hoses, plus a faulty purge valve. Mine also had the check engine light and would barely stay running at stops. Found a great independent BMW specialist after my dealership couldn't diagnose it properly. The hoses were completely blocked with carbon deposits and debris. They had to clean out the entire ventilation system and replace the purge valve assembly. Was a pretty serious issue that could've damaged other components if left unchecked. It took about a day to fix but the car has run perfectly since then. If you're experiencing these symptoms, I'd definitely get it checked soon, these ventilation problems tend to get worse quickly and can affect other systems. Make sure whoever works on it knows BMW fuel systems well.
