Thanks for sharing your experience! I've had my M3 serviced just last month at 140846 KM, and everything was fine until these warnings started popping up about a week ago. Haven't had any work done related to the airbag system before. I've actually been hesitating to get the codes read because I wasn't sure if it was just a temporary glitch. But after hearing about your similar experience, I think I'll stop by a workshop to get those diagnostic codes checked. Really don't want to mess around with safety systems either. Did your warning lights come on intermittently at first, or was it constant from the start?

Hey again! Yeah, in my M4, the warning lights started intermittently at first, they'd come and go, which made me think it wasn't serious initially. But after about two weeks, they became constant. That's when I knew I had to get it checked out properly. Looking back, I really should've had it checked sooner. The intermittent warnings are often the first sign something's going wrong with the control unit. Since you mentioned your issues started about a week ago, you're probably in that early stage I experienced. And you're absolutely right to get those codes read ASAP. The fact that your problems started after a regular service is interesting, sometimes these issues can pop up coincidentally after routine maintenance. When I got my codes read, it helped the technicians pinpoint the exact problem much faster. Just a heads up based on what happened with my M4, if it is the control unit like mine was, don't be surprised if they need to order the part. Had to wait about 3-4 days for mine to arrive. Keep me posted on what the diagnostic shows, really curious if you're dealing with the same issue I had!

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! That's really helpful to know about how your warning lights progressed from intermittent to constant. You've convinced me, I'm actually going to call the workshop right now to book an appointment for tomorrow. Better to tackle this early than wait for it to get worse. The wait time for parts isn't ideal, but at least I can plan around it if that turns out to be the case. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it's made me feel a lot more confident about what I might be dealing with. I'll definitely keep you updated once I get the diagnostic results. Fingers crossed it's something straightforward like your control unit issue and not anything more complicated!

Hey! I have some experience working on BMWs and had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW M4. The warning lights and system errors you're describing sound really familiar. Had to take it to my regular workshop because these safety systems aren't something to mess with. Turned out the control unit was defective and needed replacement. The whole thing, including diagnostic and labor, set me back about 1000 Euro, but at least it fixed both the airbag warning and associated system errors. Mind sharing if you've had any recent work done on the car or if these issues started happening after something specific? Also, have you had the diagnostic codes read? This info would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience. By the way, the M3 is a great choice. Always liked it a bit more than my M4!
