Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Really helpful to know it was just the key fob battery in your case. I've actually gone ahead and had it checked, turned out to be exactly what you described. What a relief! Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you paid for the whole thing? Also, has everything been working fine since the fix? Cheers!

Hey again! Glad to hear you got it sorted out! Yes, everything has been working perfectly since I had mine fixed, the Key battery low warning disappeared completely and hasn't come back. I paid 37€ for the whole thing, which included the new battery and the labor to program it. Money well spent if you ask me! These BMWs can sometimes throw scary warning messages for relatively simple issues, but this was definitely one of those "better safe than sorry" situations. The key's been working flawlessly for over a month now, no more warnings, no more error codes, and the remote functions are all back to normal. Just make sure to keep the receipt in case anything acts up, but honestly, I doubt you'll have any more trouble with it. These key fob batteries usually last several years before needing replacement again. Let me know if anything else comes up!

Hi! Thanks again for all your help! Just wanted to update you on my experience. Got it fixed at a different mechanic this time, much better service than my usual guy. The whole thing cost me a bit more than yours, around 45 bucks, but they did a thorough check of the electrical system too. Funny story actually, while I was waiting at the shop, another BMW owner came in with the exact same issue! We had a good laugh about it. The mechanic was super professional, showed me exactly what they were doing, and even gave me some tips about maintaining the key fob. Everything's working perfectly now, no more warning lights, and the remote functions are all back to normal. Such a relief it wasn't anything serious! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, helped me avoid unnecessary stress and probably saved me some money too. Take care!

Hey there! I had the exact same issue with my 2015 BMW M4 last month. When my key fob died, I got that warning message and error code too. Initially thought it was something major, but turned out to be just a dead battery in the key fob. Got it checked at the garage, they confirmed the key battery was completely drained. They also tested the car's main battery and charging system just to be safe, but everything else was fine. Had them replace the key fob battery and clear the error code. Pretty straightforward fix, nothing serious at all. If you're handy, you can actually replace the key fob battery yourself, it uses a CR2450 battery. Just be careful when opening the key fob. The garage did mention these symptoms can sometimes indicate other electrical issues, but in my case (and most others), it was just the key battery. Hope this helps with your decision.
