Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. It's good to know I'm not alone with these issues. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much the repair ended up costing you? Also, have you had any other electrical problems since they fixed the wiring?

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up on your question. The repair job came to 155 €, honestly not too bad considering how annoying those issues were! And I'm happy to report that since getting that cable connection fixed between the control unit and the BUS system, my M2 Competition has been running perfectly. No more unusual fault messages or system glitches whatsoever. You know how frustrating those electrical gremlins can be, but once they sorted out that dodgy connection, it was like having a completely different car. The mechanics really knew what they were doing with the BUS system diagnostics. Haven't had a single electrical problem since then, and it's been such a relief not seeing those error messages pop up anymore. I'd say it was definitely worth getting it properly diagnosed and fixed rather than letting it drag on. The peace of mind alone was worth every cent. Hope this helps with your decision!

Thanks so much for that detailed response! I finally took your advice and got my M4 checked out at a mechanic this morning. Turns out you were spot on, they found similar issues with the wiring harness and BUS system connections. The technician showed me where the cables had worn down and were causing all those frustrating glitches. The repair cost came to about double what you paid, but honestly, I'm just relieved to have it fixed properly. The mechanic was really thorough and explained everything clearly. They even showed me the old damaged wiring so I could understand what was causing all those unusual errors. Just picked up the car a few hours ago and already I can tell a massive difference. The infotainment system is responding perfectly, and no more unusual error messages popping up! It feels great to finally have everything working as it should. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me understand what I was dealing with and gave me confidence to get it sorted properly!

BMW E61 LCI 2007 Hello, I have a clicking noise from the transmission when I start it. Do you have any idea where it could be coming from?

Start by checking the transmission fluid level and condition, as low or dirty fluid can cause unusual noises. If the fluid level is fine, inspect the driveshaft and universal joints for any signs of wear or damage. If the noise persists, it might be best to have a professional mechanic take a closer look, as transmission issues can affect vehicle safety. Let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions!

I experienced similar issues with my 2020 BMW M2 Competition last month. The symptoms you're describing match what I dealt with, unusual error messages, infotainment glitches, and control unit failures. At the garage, they diagnosed it as a faulty cable connection between the control unit and the BUS system. The main wiring harness had some wear and poor contact points, which caused intermittent communication failures between various modules. It was quite a serious issue since the BUS system is crucial for proper communication between all electronic components. The repair involved replacing the damaged wiring section and reconnecting the control unit properly. After the fix, all systems have been working flawlessly. Given the symptoms you're describing, I'd recommend getting it checked specifically for BUS system connectivity issues. These electrical problems don't typically resolve themselves and could potentially affect other systems if left unaddressed.
