BMW X1 2016 problems with misfiring for some time now

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my BMW X1 (built in 2016, gasoline engine). The car shows the following symptoms: black smoke from the exhaust when accelerating, check engine light on, loss of power, unsteady engine, jerking when accelerating, starting problems, poor fuel consumption, stalling at idle and shuddering at idle. I suspect that it could be due to a defective ignition coil or misfiring. Has anyone had similar experiences and any tips on how to pinpoint and rectify the problem? How was the issue solved at your garage? Thanks for your help!

Since you've already replaced the spark plugs and injectors, the next step would be to check the ignition coil for cylinder 4. If the ignition coil is functioning properly, the issue could be related to the wiring or the engine control unit (ECU). Given the symptoms you've described, especially the fact that it's worse when the engine is cold, it might also be worth checking the coolant temperature sensor. A faulty sensor could be sending incorrect information to the ECU, causing the engine to run poorly. Remember, if you're not comfortable doing these checks yourself, it's always a good idea to have a professional mechanic look at it. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Hello, I drive a 116i built in 2014, the ignition coils + plugs were replaced by the company ngkund 2 years ago and now every few months I have the problem that I have to replace the ignition coils every few months, only one always fails! Now to my question: what could be the reason for my increasing ignition coil problems?

Frequent ignition coil failure could be due to several reasons. One common cause is voltage overload, which can occur if the spark plugs are worn out or the spark plug gap is incorrect. Even though you replaced the spark plugs 2 years ago, it might be worth checking their condition and the gap. Another possible cause could be heat and vibration, which can damage the insulation and cause a coil to fail. Make sure the coils are properly seated and the engine isn't running hotter than it should. Lastly, it could be due to a problem with the ECU or the wiring to the coil. If the ECU is sending too much current to the coil or if there's a short in the wiring, it could cause the coil to fail prematurely. Given the recurring nature of the problem, I would recommend having a professional mechanic inspect your vehicle to pinpoint the exact cause. Please keep us updated on your progress.

What exactly could the spark plugs be?

What exactly could the spark plugs be?

Spark plugs are a crucial part of your vehicle's ignition system. They generate a spark of electricity that ignites the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber of your engine. This ignition starts the engine and keeps it running. If a spark plug is faulty or worn out, it can cause several issues such as engine misfires, rough idling, poor fuel economy, difficulty starting the car, and reduced engine power. If you suspect an issue with your spark plugs, it's best to inspect them or have them inspected by a professional. They might need to be cleaned or replaced. Please keep us updated on your progress.
