BMW X4 Engine Knocking and Smoke Signals Major Trouble

Need help with BMW X4 power loss and knocking Hey everyone! Got a 2015 BMW X4 (gas engine, 143k km) giving me trouble. The engine's running in limp mode, stutters during acceleration with smoke coming out, and throws error codes. Pretty sure it's knocking but after a bad experience with my last mechanic, I'd like to hear your thoughts before taking it anywhere. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Any recommendations on what to check or where to get it fixed right? Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to update everyone, I took your advice and got my X4 checked out! You were spot on about the carbon buildup. Found a good mechanic who really knew his stuff. The whole job ended up costing me a bit more, around 500 €, since they had to replace three spark plugs instead of two. The difference is amazing though! My car's running like a dream now, no more limp mode, no smoke, and that awful knocking is completely gone. The mechanic showed me the carbon deposits they cleaned out, and wow, it was pretty bad. Really glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it gave me the confidence to get it sorted before any serious damage happened. Definitely learned my lesson about regular maintenance too. Time to put this whole episode behind me and enjoy driving my X4 again!
