Summary of the thread
A 2019 BMW X5 is experiencing issues with its emergency call system, suspected to be due to a drained emergency call battery. The problem is characterized by a fault in the error memory and a limited emergency call function time, despite no Check Control message. Thanks for your detailed response! My X5 has been running great overall with no other electrical issues. Just had my latest service about 2 months ago and everything else is working perfectly fine. The main battery is also in good condition. I drive regularly, clocking 113602 KM, and haven't left it sitting around unused. Based on your experience, it sounds like a straightforward emergency battery replacement should do the trick. I'll probably go ahead and book it in at the workshop. Really appreciate you sharing your repair costs too, gives me a good idea of what to expect. Would you recommend going to the dealer for this or would any good BMW specialist be able to handle it?

Hey again! Since your situation sounds nearly identical to what I experienced with my X3, I'd say you can definitely go with a reputable BMW specialist workshop. That's what I did with mine. Any competent BMW specialist should be able to handle this repair easily, it's not overly complex. I initially considered the dealer but chose my regular specialist workshop instead, and honestly, I'm glad I did. They were more cost-effective and just as thorough. The repair itself took them about an hour on my X3. Just make sure they use a genuine BMW emergency call battery, that's what my workshop used, and I haven't had any issues since the replacement. They also ran a full diagnostic afterward to ensure everything was communicating properly. Quick tip from my experience, have them check the battery connections while they're at it. My mechanic did this as part of the service, and it's good preventive maintenance. Let me know how it goes after you get it fixed! I'm curious to hear if your experience matches mine. Always good to compare notes on these things, especially since we're dealing with similar BMW models.

Thanks so much for all this helpful info! I feel much more confident about getting this fixed now. I've actually got a really good BMW specialist nearby that I've used before, so I'll give them a call tomorrow to book it in. It's great to know it's a relatively quick fix and that I don't necessarily need to go to the dealer. I'll definitely ask them to use a genuine BMW battery and check those connections like you suggested. Really appreciate you breaking down your repair experience, it's exactly what I needed to know. The hour timeframe and cost estimate helps me plan better too. I'll update you once it's done! Thanks again for taking the time to help me out with this. It's always reassuring to hear from someone who's dealt with the same issue and got it sorted successfully.

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW X3 last year. The emergency call system started acting up just like yours. Took it to my trusted workshop where they diagnosed a completely discharged emergency battery. They swapped it out for a new one, and it fixed everything, the error message disappeared, and the system works perfectly now. The whole thing cost me about 110 Euro, including labor. Before suggesting anything specific for your X5, could you share: Are there any other electrical issues you've noticed? Has the car been sitting unused for extended periods? Have you had any recent battery-related problems with the main battery? This will help me understand if it's exactly the same issue I faced with my X3. Looking forward to helping out!
