Thanks for sharing your experience! I have 177520 KM on the odometer, had my last service about 3 months ago. And yes, I actually started noticing the check engine light coming on intermittently last week. It usually disappears after the engine warms up though. Did you also notice any stuttering when accelerating? Mine seems to hesitate a bit before picking up speed, especially in the morning.

Hey again! Good to hear back from you. Yeah, that intermittent check engine light sounds very familiar, mine did exactly the same thing before I got it fixed. And the stuttering during acceleration? Absolutely! My X5 had that exact same hesitation, particularly on cold mornings. It was super annoying when trying to merge onto fast roads. Since you mentioned your mileage (mine was around 165,000 KM when I had the issue), it's really starting to sound like we had the identical problem. The disappearing check engine light after warm-up is another classic symptom of injector issues in these engines. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, before I got it fixed, I also noticed the engine would sometimes have a slight misfire during the first minute or so after starting. Did you experience anything like that? After getting the injector replaced, all these issues disappeared completely. The car fires up instantly now, even in cold weather, and that hesitation during acceleration is gone. Honestly, it's running better than it has in years. Based on what you're describing, I'd say you're dealing with the same problem I had. Might be worth getting it checked sooner rather than later, as it only tends to get worse.

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! You've described my situation perfectly, yes, I do get that slight misfire you mentioned during the first minute after starting! It's such a relief to hear someone else went through the exact same thing and got it sorted. The fact that your repair completely fixed all these issues is really encouraging. I was worried it might be something more serious (and expensive!). I think I'll go ahead and book it in at the workshop this week, no point letting it get worse, especially with all these cold morning starts lately. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It's given me the confidence to know what I'm dealing with. I'll update the thread once I get it fixed in case anyone else runs into similar problems!

Hey there! I have some experience working on BMWs and went through something very similar with my 2010 BMW X5 last year. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I faced, rough cold starts and high fuel consumption. After struggling with it for a few weeks, I took it to my trusted workshop. They diagnosed a faulty fuel injector and had to replace it. The whole thing set me back about 515 Euro, but it was worth it as the car runs perfectly now. I'm curious though, does your X6 show any warning lights on the dashboard? And how many miles/kilometers are on it? With BMW's twin-turbo engines (like in the X5 and X6), injector issues are pretty common after certain mileage. If you want, share more details about any other symptoms you've noticed. That would help compare if it's the same issue I had with my X5.
