Thanks for sharing that! I also had similar wiring issues with my X6's alarm. It's interesting that it was specifically the harness connection in your case, sounds exactly like what happened to mine. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks popping up? Would be helpful to know if I should watch out for anything else while they're in there fixing it.

Hey again! Just wanted to update you, after seeing your follow-up, I thought I'd let you know that the repair on my X5 cost me 95 € to fix the faulty cable connection. The mechanic found a corroded plug that was causing the siren communication fault. Once they sorted that out, everything's been working perfectly, no more silent alarm system! The best part is that since getting it fixed last year, I haven't had any other electrical issues pop up. The alarm beeps normally when locking/unlocking, and the security system is working just as it should. Really glad I got it sorted by a proper mechanic who knew what they were doing. Honestly, for what was potentially a security risk, the repair cost was pretty reasonable. No need to watch out for anything else specifically, just make sure whoever works on it thoroughly checks all the connections while they're at it. A proper diagnosis is key with these electrical gremlins. Let me know how you get on with yours!

Thanks for all the info! Just wanted to update you on what happened with my X6. Finally got it fixed yesterday at a new mechanic I found. They were actually really thorough and professional, such a relief after my last experience! The issue was indeed similar to yours, corroded wiring and a damaged connection to the siren unit. They charged me a bit more than what you paid, but they also found and fixed some other minor wiring issues while they were at it. The whole thing took about 3 hours. The alarm's working perfectly now, getting those satisfying beeps when I lock and unlock the car again! Such a simple thing, but you don't realize how much you rely on it until it's gone. The mechanic also gave the whole system a good check and said everything else looks solid, so hopefully, I won't have any more electrical problems for a while. Really appreciate your help in figuring this out. It definitely made me feel more confident about what needed to be done. Glad I got it sorted!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2015 BMW X5 35i last year. The alarm system went completely silent, same symptoms as yours. Turned out the alarm siren unit had a damaged wire harness connection, and moisture got in there over time. The repair wasn't too complex, but accessing the siren module location was a bit tricky. In my case, they had to replace the siren unit and repair the wiring harness. It wasn't a major mechanical issue, but definitely needed professional attention since it's connected to the car's security system. Had it fixed at a garage specializing in German cars. The whole job took about 2-3 hours. Since then, no issues with the alarm system. Make sure whoever works on it checks both the siren unit and the wiring connections, that's often the root cause rather than just the siren itself. Hope this helps with your decision.
