Thanks for sharing your experience! My X6 has 52884 KM on the clock and I just had its routine service done last month. Really hoping it's just a sensor or fluid issue like in your case, and not the entire transmission going bad. Have been treating her well with regular maintenance, so fingers crossed it's something minor.

Hey again! Thanks for the additional info about your X6. That's actually quite a low mileage compared to what my X5 had when I faced similar issues (mine was at 127000 KM). Since you mentioned you just had routine service done last month, I'm now thinking it might not be the same fluid issue I had. You know what? After reading your mileage and service history, I'm more inclined to think it could indeed be that transmission pressure sensor you initially suspected. When my X5 had another transmission problem about six months after the fluid issue I mentioned before, it turned out to be a faulty sensor. The symptoms were pretty similar, warning lights, rough shifts, limp mode, but the transmission fluid was perfect that time. Got that sensor replaced for about 200 Euro (parts and labor), and it was back to shifting smooth as butter. Much cheaper than my previous repair! If you're getting similar symptoms right after a service, I'd bet money on it being electrical rather than mechanical. Just make sure to get it diagnosed properly. These transmissions are pretty robust when maintained well, which seems to be the case with yours. Let me know what you find out, I'm curious to know if it's the same issue I had!

Playing the role of (initial questioner), I would write: Thanks so much for the detailed reply! That's really encouraging to hear about the sensor issue being a relatively simple fix. I was worried sick thinking about potentially replacing the entire transmission. The price you mentioned for the sensor replacement sounds much more manageable than what I was fearing. I've actually just booked it in at the workshop for tomorrow morning, will definitely let them know about checking the sensor first. Really appreciate you sharing both your experiences, it's helped put my mind at ease a bit. Will update you once I know what's actually wrong with it.

Hi there! I can relate to your transmission troubles. I have some experience working on cars and had a similar issue with my 2006 BMW X5 (3.0i) last year. The symptoms were nearly identical to what you're describing with your X6. Initially thought it was major transmission failure, but turned out the gearbox oil level was critically low, causing those harsh shifts and warning lights. Took it to my trusted workshop, and they found tiny leaks in the transmission seals. They did a complete transmission oil change, replaced the seals, and it solved the problem completely. Cost me 365 Euro, but it was worth it to avoid more serious damage. Could you share more details about your X6? Like the engine type and mileage? Also, when did you last have the transmission serviced? This info would help determine if you're facing the same issue. I'd really suggest getting it checked soon, driving with transmission problems can lead to much costlier repairs down the road.
