Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the sensor and wiring issues. I'm dealing with similar symptoms, and you're right, better safe than sorry with these things. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the sensor and wiring repairs? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Would really help me get an idea of what I might be looking at here. Thanks again for the detailed response!

Hey there! Happy to give you an update. The repair was actually pretty straightforward once I took it to my mechanic. The total bill came to 95 € to fix the cable connection that was causing all the trouble. They also topped up the coolant while they were at it, and I haven't had a single warning light since! Much cheaper than I initially feared, to be honest. Everything's been running like a dream for the past few months, no more Christmas tree dashboard, and the engine temperature's staying exactly where it should be. The mechanic showed me where the connection had gotten loose, and it was exactly what was causing those scary warning lights. It's such a relief when these things turn out to be simpler than you expect, right? Just make sure whoever looks at yours checks those connections thoroughly, sometimes it's the basic stuff that gets overlooked. Best money I've spent on the car in a while, considering how worried I was at first! Hope this helps you gauge what you might be looking at for your X6. Let me know how it turns out!

Thanks so much for all that info! Just wanted to update you on what happened with my X6. Took it to an independent BMW specialist last week, and wow, what a different experience from the dealer! Turns out it wasn't just low coolant after all. They found a cracked hose connection that was causing a slow leak, plus a wonky temperature sensor. Total bill came to about 250 bucks, more than your repair but still way less than I was bracing for! They had it fixed in a couple of hours. Car's running perfectly now, no more warning lights, and the temperature gauge is steady. Such a relief! Really glad I didn't just top up the coolant and hope for the best like the dealer suggested. Goes to show how important it is to get a second opinion. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to look beyond the dealer's diagnosis. Sometimes these BMWs just need a bit of TLC from someone who really knows what they're looking at!

Hey there! I actually had a similar situation with my 2017 BMW X4 last summer. Started with the same warning lights, coolant and CEL. Initially thought it was just low coolant like your dealer suggested, but it turned out to be a faulty coolant level sensor and a loose wiring connection to the temperature sensor. The connector had corroded over time, causing intermittent readings. The repair wasn't too complex, but it was crucial to fix it properly to prevent engine damage. Had to replace the sensor and the wiring harness connector. Definitely not something you want to ignore or just top up the coolant and hope for the best. I'd suggest getting a second opinion from a certified BMW specialist. Those warning lights together usually indicate more than just low coolant, especially if the issue persists after topping up. With 114k km on the clock, it's worth doing a proper diagnostic to be safe. Good luck with the fix!
