Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I've been meaning to ask, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair job? And has everything stayed working properly since the fix? Just want to get an idea of what I'm looking at cost-wise and make sure it's a long-term solution.

Hey again! Just wanted to update you on my repair costs, I got really lucky compared to what I initially expected. The mechanic found it was just a faulty cable connection and a corroded plug in the steering column that was causing all those issues. Only cost me 95 € to fix, which was a huge relief! And yes, everything's working perfectly now! The cruise control that was completely dead before is back to normal, and all those annoying warning lights disappeared right after the repair. I'm actually glad I brought it in when I did, seems like catching these electrical issues early can save you from bigger headaches down the road. It's been several months now, and I haven't had a single problem since. No more warning lights, all the steering wheel buttons work great, and the cruise control is as smooth as ever. Just make sure you find a mechanic who knows their way around BMW electronics, it makes a huge difference in getting an accurate diagnosis and proper fix. Let me know how it goes with yours!

Thanks so much for all the details! Really glad I asked here. Just wanted to update you all on what happened with my BMW. Finally got it checked out yesterday at a specialist shop. Turns out my issue was pretty similar, faulty wiring in the steering column. The mechanic spotted some water damage that had corroded the connections. The whole thing cost me about 150 for parts and labor, which wasn't nearly as bad as I'd feared. They had it fixed within a couple of hours, and all those warning lights cleared up instantly. The steering wheel buttons and cruise control are working perfectly now. You were absolutely right about going to a BMW specialist, they knew exactly what to look for and fixed it right the first time. No more dashboard looking like a Christmas tree! Really appreciate everyone's help and advice on this. Sometimes these electrical issues seem scarier than they actually are. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Hey there! Had the exact same issue with my 2016 BMW X5 40i last year. Multiple warning lights, steering wheel controls dead, the works. Turned out to be a faulty steering angle sensor and damaged wiring harness connection at the clockspring behind the steering wheel. The mechanic found that moisture had gotten into the connection, causing corrosion at the plug. These symptoms typically show up when the steering wheel electronics lose communication with the car's systems. It wasn't a major mechanical issue, but it needed immediate attention since it affects crucial safety systems. The fix involved replacing the clockspring assembly and sensor, plus cleaning and resealing the connections. Took about half a day at the shop. Since then, zero issues with the electronics or warning lights. My advice: Get it checked soon. These warning lights mean your safety systems aren't working properly. Look for a shop that specializes in BMW electronics, they'll have the right diagnostic tools for this kind of problem. Best of luck with the fix.
