BMW X7 Oil Pressure Warning Causes Multiple Concerns

Hey all! Need some advice about my 2022 BMW X7 (gas engine, 65,377 KM). The oil pressure warning light keeps coming on, along with another warning light in the speedometer cluster. My last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm a bit anxious about this. I suspect it might be contaminated engine oil, but I'd like to hear from others who've dealt with similar symptoms in their X7. What was your experience and where did you end up getting it fixed? Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW X5 40i last year. The oil pressure warning came up around 70,000 KM, and I got it checked right away. The service found that it wasn't just contaminated oil, turns out my oil pump was starting to fail, which is pretty serious since it can lead to complete engine failure if ignored. They had to replace the oil pump and do a complete oil system flush to remove metal particles that had accumulated. Took them about two days to complete everything. It wasn't just a regular maintenance issue, but rather a mechanical problem that needed immediate attention. If you're seeing similar symptoms, don't wait on this one. Oil pressure warnings aren't something to ignore, as they can indicate serious engine problems. Get it checked at a reputable BMW service center. Based on my experience, better to catch these things early than risk bigger engine problems later.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the oil pump issue. Really helpful to hear about this, as those warning lights have been making me nervous. Would you mind telling me roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also curious if you've had any related problems pop up since they fixed it?

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up about my X5 repair costs and experience. Actually, in my case, it turned out to be less severe than the oil pump issue I initially thought it was. After getting it properly diagnosed, it was just contaminated engine oil combined with going over the maintenance interval. The fix was much simpler, they did a thorough oil system clean and service, which came to 165 €. Way better than what I was expecting! Since getting it sorted, I haven't had a single warning light come on, running smooth as butter now. Such a relief! The contamination issue was completely resolved, and honestly, the car feels better than ever. Just make sure you get yours checked soon, these warning lights definitely shouldn't be ignored, even if it turns out to be something minor like in my case. The peace of mind is totally worth it. Let me know if you need any other info about what they did during the service. Happy to share more details!

Just got back from the mechanic, and I'm so relieved! After getting anxious about potentially major repairs, it turned out to be a relatively simple fix. The technician found that my engine oil was indeed contaminated, but there wasn't any serious damage to the pump or other components. They did a complete oil system flush and replaced some filters, only cost me about 200 bucks and took a few hours. The warning lights have completely disappeared, and the engine's running super smooth now. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for sharing your story, it helped push me to get it checked out sooner rather than later. The mechanic actually said it was smart to bring it in when I did, as waiting longer could've led to bigger issues. Think I'll stick with this new mechanic too, they were straight-up about everything and didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. What a relief this turned out to be way simpler than I feared!
