Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really helpful since I'm dealing with these exact same symptoms in my X7. That's quite interesting about the ABS module being the root cause, makes sense given how interconnected these systems are. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything stayed working properly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up?

Hey again! Actually, I have good news to share about my repair experience! After taking my X5 to the mechanic, the transfer case limp mode issue was completely fixed and it didn't cost me anything since it was covered under warranty. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed related to those ABS system faults we talked about earlier. I'm really happy to report that my car has been running perfectly since then, no more warning lights, no jerky movements, and the transmission is shifting as smooth as butter. It's been about 8 months now, and I haven't noticed any quirks or issues at all. The all-wheel drive system is working exactly as it should. Just make sure you get yours checked soon though, I got lucky with the warranty coverage, but these issues can get expensive if they're left too long and cause more damage. Better safe than sorry with these complex systems! Let me know how it goes with your X7!

Thanks everyone for your input! Just wanted to update you all on what happened with my X7. Finally got it checked out at a different mechanic, a certified BMW specialist this time. what a difference! The guy actually took the time to do a proper diagnostic and found that it was exactly what you mentioned, the ABS module was acting up. Got it fixed last week, and the car's running like a dream now. No more warning lights, no more jerky movements. The transmission's shifting perfectly again. The best part? Like you, I was still under warranty, so the repair didn't cost me anything. The only downside was having to leave my car at the shop for three days, but it was totally worth it. Had to use a rental, but hey, small price to pay for getting it properly fixed. Really glad I asked here before going back to my old mechanic. Sometimes you just need that push to try something different, you know? Thanks again for sharing your experiences, helped me make the right decision!

Hey there! I had very similar issues with my 2020 BMW X5 40i last winter. At first, it started with unusual ABS and drivetrain warnings, followed by rough shifting and jerky movements, especially during low-speed turns. After experiencing those symptoms, I took it to a BMW specialist. Turned out the ABS module was faulty, which triggered a chain reaction affecting the xDrive system. Since the ABS module communicates with multiple systems, it caused the transfer case to act up and go into limp mode as a safety measure. The fix wasn't quick, they had to replace the ABS module and recalibrate several systems including the transfer case sensors. It was quite a serious issue that could've led to more damage if left unchecked. The car needed to stay at the garage for 4 days. Since the repair, everything's been running smoothly. Your symptoms sound very similar to what I experienced. I'd recommend getting it checked by a certified BMW specialist who can properly diagnose the interconnected systems. Best of luck with the repair.
