Thanks for sharing your experience! That's super helpful since our issues sound really similar. I'm worried I might be facing the same alternator-battery combo problem. Would you mind sharing how much you ended up paying for the repairs? Also, just curious, have you had any other electrical problems since getting it fixed? I want to make sure I'm prepared for what might be coming my way.

Hey again! Really glad I could help with your situation! Just wanted to update you on my repair costs and follow-up experience. The alternator replacement was covered under my extended warranty, and because the battery issue was a direct result of the faulty alternator, they didn't charge me anything for the battery replacement either. Got pretty lucky there! The best part is, since getting it fixed, my X6 M has been running perfectly, no more electrical issues whatsoever. The starting problem disappeared completely, and the lights are back to their normal brightness. It's been such a relief not having to worry about whether my car will start each morning! Just make sure you emphasize to the mechanic that you're seeing similar symptoms to what I described, the connection between the alternator and battery issues is crucial. A good BMW specialist should be able to spot this right away. Trust me, getting it properly diagnosed and fixed will save you a lot of headaches down the road.

Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update everyone! You were spot on, it was definitely the alternator causing all the trouble. Took it to a certified BMW shop and they diagnosed it right away. The repairs weren't cheap since my warranty had expired, ended up paying quite a bit for the new alternator and labor. They also found my battery was pretty damaged, just like in your case, so had to replace that too. But honestly, it's worth every penny because my car's running like new now. Started up perfectly this morning, no more flickering lights, and all those error codes have cleared up. Such a relief to have this sorted! Really appreciate everyone's input, especially about going to a specialist. Definitely saved me from making another wrong mechanic choice. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and pay more for quality service!

Hi there! I had a similar situation with my 2020 BMW X6 M last winter. Started with dim lights and occasional starting issues, turned out my alternator was failing, which then caused the battery to get damaged. The alternator problem wasn't caught early by my first mechanic, who just kept charging the battery. Eventually, the faulty alternator killed my new battery too, and I ended up having to replace both parts. The error codes were related to electrical system faults, which makes sense given the alternator issue. This was definitely a serious problem that needed immediate attention, you really don't want to get stranded somewhere with a dead battery. Based on your symptoms, I'd strongly suspect either the alternator or battery, possibly both if it's been going on for a while. My advice? Get it checked by a certified BMW specialist. These electrical issues tend to cascade into bigger problems if not addressed properly. Had mine fixed at an authorized service center and haven't had any issues since.
