Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm at 112583 KM or had my last service just two weeks ago, and everything was fine until yesterday. No unusual noises when trying the AC, and no check engine light either. The climate control panel looks normal, all the displays work, but nothing happens when I press the buttons. It's super frustrating since it's a fairly new car. I'm hoping it's something simple like your valve issue, though with these new XMs, everything seems more complex. Did your mechanic mention how long the repair took? I'm trying to figure out if I should expect to be without the car for a while.

Hey again! Just saw your reply about your XM's AC troubles. Looking at what you've described, it sounds a bit different from what I experienced. In my X6 M, I was at least getting some response from the system, even if it wasn't cooling. The fact that yours isn't responding at all to button presses is interesting. When my valve issue got fixed, the whole job took about a day and a half, but yours might be something different since nothing's happening when you press the buttons. These newer models have way more complex electronics controlling everything. Given that you just had service two weeks ago, I'd actually give your service center a call. Maybe something got disconnected or wasn't properly reset after the service? I've learned the hard way that even simple maintenance can sometimes trigger these kinds of issues in BMWs if everything isn't put back exactly right. By the way, after dealing with my AC problems, I started keeping track of when the system starts acting even slightly weird, like taking longer to cool or making different sounds. Might be worth doing the same once you get this fixed. These systems usually give some warning signs before completely giving up. Let me know what you find out, I'm really curious if it's related to the recent service or something else entirely.

Thanks for the detailed follow-up! You make a really good point about the recent service, I hadn't even considered that connection. I just called the service center, and they told me to bring it in tomorrow morning. They seemed particularly interested when I mentioned it happened right after the service. You're right about these XMs being more complex. Fingers crossed it's just something that got disconnected during the service work. That would definitely be better than dealing with faulty valves or bigger electrical issues. Thanks for the tip about tracking the AC behavior too, I'll definitely start doing that once it's fixed. Really appreciate you sharing your experience and suggestions. I'll probably update this thread once I find out what's actually wrong with it. These insights from other BMW owners are super helpful, especially with a relatively new model like the XM where there isn't much repair history to go on yet.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW X6 M last summer (I've got some experience working on cars, but mostly basic maintenance stuff). The symptoms were exactly the same, AC completely dead, no cold air. Took it to my regular workshop and turns out there were faulty valves in the AC system that needed replacement. The whole repair set me back about 1000 Euro, but it's been working perfectly since then. Can you tell me if you're hearing any unusual noises when trying to turn on the AC? Also, has your check engine light come on? These details would help figure out if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Just curious, have you noticed any issues with the climate control panel itself? Sometimes these BMWs can show similar symptoms for different underlying problems. I also own a BMW X5, and these AC issues seem to pop up in several models, so I'm quite familiar with them. Let me know those details and I might be able to help more!
