Boxer headlight range control malfunction

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms – error code, dash light, beam adjustment all over the place. Sounds like a defective servomotor within the headlight unit. Are your headlights adaptive? Have you checked the wiring harness for corrosion or damage? A bad connection can throw everything off.

With adaptive headlights, the servomotor is suspect. It's integrated into the headlight assembly, so you'd have to remove the headlight to get to it. Unless you're comfortable with electrical work and disassembling headlight units, I'd recommend a workshop. Check the wiring harness that connects to the headlight unit for green/white powdery stuff indicating corrosion. Considering the precise adjustment needed and the stored error, it's probably a job best left to the pros.

Thanks for the advice. I took the car to a workshop. They confirmed it was the servomotor and replaced it, it cost me 1040€. Now the headlights are working perfectly again!
