BR V intake manifold flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Honda BR-V diesel exhibited reduced power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a loud hissing sound. A diagnostic scan indicated an intake manifold flap control issue. The problem was traced to a defective intake manifold flap control switch, which was replaced, resolving the symptoms and restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't spotted any obvious damage, but I'm no expert. Could a faulty switch on the intake manifold control really cause all these symptoms?

It definitely could. The intake manifold flap control regulates airflow into the engine. If the switch is defective, the flaps might not be opening and closing correctly, leading to the symptoms you described. Given the complexity, I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop.

Appreciate the advice! It was exactly as you suspected – the intake manifold flap control switch was defective. It cost 465€ to get it sorted, but the car is running perfectly again. Thanks!

Sounds familiar! I also drive a BR-V diesel. Does the hissing seem to be coming from the intake system? Reduced power and jerking definitely point towards an issue with the air intake. Have you checked for any obvious leaks or damage around the intake manifold?
