BRV Electrical Drain Aftermarket Lights

Experiencing a 'Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted' electrical issue with my 2021 Honda BR-V gasoline. It's having difficulty starting at 126347 km. Suspect a discharged or defective battery. Could this be related to a circuit breaker, ignition switch, short circuit, voltage drop, or the charging system?

Summary of the thread

The 2021 Honda BR-V was experiencing an electrical issue, suspected to be related to a discharged or defective battery. The problem was potentially linked to aftermarket ambient lights installed a few months prior, which could have caused a significant power drain. It was advised to check the charging system and consider professional diagnostics due to limited tools. Ultimately, the aftermarket lights were identified as the cause of the constant drain, leading to their replacement and resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a nasty drain. Have you checked the battery voltage after it's been sitting overnight? Any aftermarket accessories installed? That could cause a short circuit or voltage drop. Is the alternator charging correctly? A faulty charging system can mimic battery issues.

Thanks! I haven't checked the voltage myself, as I don't have the equipment. Yes, I installed some aftermarket ambient lights a few months ago. Could that really be causing such a significant drain? How can I identify a faulty charging system?

Those lights are highly suspect. Even when 'off', poorly installed accessories can leech power. A charging system test requires specialized equipment to check output voltage and current. Considering the symptoms, the aftermarket lights, and your limited diagnostic tools, I'd advise taking it to a workshop before you do further damage.

Thank you so much! I brought it to a workshop. Turns out the aftermarket lights were the culprit, causing a constant drain. Replaced the lights and the battery was shot too. Total cost 290€. You've saved me a lot of headache!
