Summary of the thread
A 2006 Fiat Idea with a gasoline engine and 193,171 km is experiencing a bypass valve error and engine overheating. The issue may be a consequential error from an underlying problem, such as a vacuum leak, which is common in similar cases. Thank you for your response. I appreciate the insight. Yes, there has been some power loss intermittently, but not consistently. The engine hasn't stalled. What was the underlying issue with your Astra that caused the bypass valve error?

For me, it turned out to be a vacuum leak causing all sorts of problems. Honestly, best to get it checked at a workshop; could be a bunch of things. They should be able to pinpoint it quickly.

Understood. Thanks for the advice. I will schedule an appointment with a trusted professional to diagnose the potential vacuum leak. After investigation and error memory analysis, it turned out to be a consequential error and was fixed at no cost. The information was of great help.

Hey, I had something similar happen with my old Opel Astra. Same error and overheating too. Did you notice any power loss or engine stalling alongside it?
