C2 automatic transmission issues

Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the fluid level yet, just assumed it was old. Where exactly is the dipstick for the auto tranny on these?

You are welcome. Regrettably, the Citroen C2 automatic transmission lacks a conventional dipstick for fluid level inspection. Checking the fluid level mandates specialized equipment in a professional workshop. Given the confluence of symptoms you delineated, coupled with the undervoltage possibility, it is prudent to seek a diagnostic assessment from an experienced technician equipped to evaluate automatic transmission systems. Such a technician can accurately ascertain the fluid level, assess its condition, perform diagnostic scans to interrogate the transmission control module, and isolate the underlying cause.

Okay, thanks. Dropped it at the shop, turns out the worn-out oil was the main cause, which was due to undervoltage. 240€ later and seems good for now.

Greetings. I can relate to your situation. I own a Citroen C2 (I don't remember the build year). Those symptoms you described, particularly the erratic shifting and transmission light, are indicative of serious issues. In my experience, such behavior often stems from degraded hydraulic fluid within the automatic transmission system. Have you inspected the fluid level and condition recently? A low level or dark, burnt-smelling fluid could point to internal wear or leaks. Furthermore, given the Citroen C2's design, undervoltage situations can indeed trigger malfunctions in the electronic control units governing the automatic transmission's operation.
