C2 exhaust flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Citroen C2 owner is experiencing issues with the exhaust flap, resulting in loud exhaust noise and an error code. The problem is most noticeable during cold starts, making the car sound like a tractor. A similar case suggested that the flap actuator might be the cause, and a professional diagnosis and replacement of the actuator motor resolved the issue, restoring the car's normal sound.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, the noise is worst on startup but lingers a bit. Where exactly is the flap actuator located? And was it a pain to replace?

Okay, similar to what I experienced. I'm no expert but I think it's near the rear exhaust. Honestly, I'm not mechanically gifted, so I took it to a shop. They diagnosed it quickly and replaced the motor. Best to get it checked out properly to avoid further exhaust blockage.

Cheers! I figured as much. Workshop it is, then. Appreciate the confirmation; at least I know I'm not crazy. Just got it back, cost me 190€ including parts and labour. Sounds healthy again!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my C2. Is the exhaust noise only on startup? Mine sounded like it had a massive exhaust leak. I'd suggest checking the flap actuator; that was the culprit in my case. How’s your engine performance otherwise?
