C3 Handsfree Microphone Failure

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2018 Citroen C3 diesel. The hands-free microphone seems to have died completely. Telephony is no longer possible, and the error memory has stored an error related to it. Anyone else experienced this? I was thinking it might be a software glitch but I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting. I've tried adjusting the volume and checking the speech recognition settings, but nothing seems to work. I don't want to spend much money for microphone repair because voice recognition isn't the most important thing in the car.

Oh, man, I feel your pain! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. Voice recognition and telephony went completely haywire. Ambient noise was all over the place, and it turned out to be a defective infotainment system. Is the car still under warranty?

Thanks for the reply! Was the Megane also diesel? How did you diagnose the problem with the infotainment system? Did you try any troubleshooting steps yourself, or did you just take it straight to a workshop?

My Megane was petrol, actually. The dealer diagnosed the infotainment issue. To be honest, I'm not that tech-savvy, so I didn't mess around with it myself. Considering the symptoms you're describing and the error code, it does sound like a potential infotainment fault. My advice would be to get it checked out by a professional. It's frustrating, I know, but you'll save yourself a lot of headaches in the long run.

Thanks a lot for your input! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was the infotainment system. They quoted me 815€ for the repair. Hopefully, this fixes the problem for good.
