C3 high fuel consumption and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Citroen C3 is experiencing high fuel consumption and stalling, with the check engine light on and smoke upon acceleration. The suspected cause is a defective mass air flow meter, which can disrupt the air-fuel ratio. It is advised to inspect the air intake system for blockages or leaks and consider professional diagnostics to confirm and resolve the issue.

Thank you for your insights! I did a visual inspection of the air intake, but didn't notice anything obvious. How did you confirm that your mass air flow sensor was indeed the problem? Did you perform any specific tests, or did you rely solely on the symptoms?

In my case, I didn't perform any advanced tests myself. Given the symptoms and my limited experience, I opted to take it to a trusted workshop. They confirmed that the mass air flow sensor was faulty and replaced it. Based on your description, it might be best to do the same, rather than risk further damage by experimenting on your own.

I appreciate the advice! I think I will bring it to the workshop. I've just received the bill of 365€, the car runs perfectly now. Thanks again!

Hello there. I also drive a C3, and those symptoms do sound awfully familiar. If I remember correctly, I also had higher fuel consumption and my engine stalled sometimes. Have you checked the air intake system for any blockages or leaks? A faulty mass air flow sensor can definitely cause those problems by messing with the air-fuel ratio.
