C30 Diesel Stalling After Fuel Filter Change

My 2010 Volvo C30 diesel is acting up. The check engine light is on, it sometimes stalls at idle, and the power is reduced. This started right after I changed the fuel filter. Could this be related? Maybe the fuel pressure regulator is bad? I've got 187612 km on it. This is so frustrating!

Sounds like you might have introduced air into the fuel system when you changed the filter. Did you prime the system properly afterward? A defective fuel pressure regulator could be the problem, especially with those symptoms. Have you checked the fuel rail pressure?

Priming... honestly, I'm not 100% sure I did it perfectly. I thought I did, but maybe not good enough. Where exactly is the fuel rail pressure sensor located on this engine? And what readings should I be looking for?

If you're unsure about the priming, that's a big clue. Messing with fuel pressures without the right tools can be risky. I'd say get it to a workshop. The error entry might just need to be cleared after a proper priming. It sounds like the regulator, but get it checked properly.

You were spot on! I took it to a mechanic, and they re-primed the system and cleared the error code. The fuel pressure regulator was fine. Apparently, I messed up the priming pretty badly. Cost me 45€ to get it sorted. Thanks for the help!
