C30 engine knocking

Alright Volvo heads, I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2006 C30 with a gasoline engine is acting up. Only 42154 km on the clock! It feels like she's got the hiccups – real bad knocking during combustion. I'm getting reduced power, jerking when I try to accelerate, and puffing out smoke when I put my foot down. Plus, there's an error code staring me down from the dash. Could it be piston slap or pre-ignition? Maybe the knock sensor? Any thoughts before I throw money at it?

Hmm, that sounds familiar. I've got a C30 too, and I had similar symptoms not too long ago. Reduced power and jerking, especially under acceleration. Did you check for anything else besides the knock sensor? What about ignition timing?

Okay, so mine ended up being deposits in the combustion chamber. The knocking and jerking were driving me nuts. Honestly, unless you're super confident and have the right tools, I'd say take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and clean everything out. It's better than messing something up even worse.
