C30 Heating Defrost Flap Error

I've got a 2006 Volvo C30 with a gasoline engine and I'm having some trouble with the heating. The error memory has stored an error related to the defrost air distribution flap, and the heating output is just too low. I've checked the basic fuses and nothing seems obviously broken. Could a defective cable or plug connection really cause this?

I had something similar happen in my C30, though I didn't check the error codes. The heating was weak, especially on the defrost setting. Have you checked the HVAC unit behind the dashboard panel? It might be worth a look before you assume the worst.

Thanks for the quick reply! You mean pulling apart the dashboard to get to the HVAC unit? Is that a big job? And what exactly am I looking for - loose connections, damaged wiring?

Yeah, accessing the HVAC unit involves removing parts of the dashboard. It's not exactly a walk in the park. I'm no expert, but I would recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. They'll diagnose the exact problem and give you a quote. Could be a simple fix, or maybe a bigger issue with the air circulation. It cost me 95€ to fix this issue.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my local mechanic, and you were right - it was a faulty connection. 95€ later, the heating is working perfectly again. Appreciate the help!
