C4 Injection System Fault

I've got a perplexing issue with my 2007 Citroen C4, gasoline engine, currently at 218082 kilometers. The injection system seems to be malfunctioning. I've noticed increased fuel consumption, reduced engine power, stalling at idle, and smoke during acceleration. Preliminary diagnostics suggest a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered similar difficulties, and what did you do to fix it?

Sounds familiar. I drive a C4 as well. Had something similar happen, but it wasn't quite as bad. Check for any obvious air leaks in the intake. That messed with my fuel consumption a bit.

Could you elaborate on the specific location of the air leaks you encountered, and what indicators led you to suspect their presence? Were there any diagnostic codes associated with the issue you experienced?

To be honest, I'm no expert. I just noticed the engine was running rough, and a mechanic pointed out a cracked hose near the air filter. No codes that I remember. If it's stalling and smoking, sounds worse than what I had. Maybe best to get it checked properly at a workshop.

I investigated the cable and plug connections. It turns out that the engine temperature sensor cable was defective. The repair cost 95€. Thanks for pointing me in a direction.
