C5 check engine light fuel consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Citroen C5 owner experienced a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, suspecting an issue with the inlet VANOS mechanics. Another person suggested the problem might be related to the camshaft solenoid valves or their power supply, especially since the engine was running rough and misfiring. The owner confirmed the issue was indeed a faulty camshaft solenoid valve, which was resolved at a workshop, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Rough is an understatement! Definitely feels like it's misfiring sometimes. You really think it's the solenoid valves? How did you figure that out? Did you also have the higher fuel consumption?

Yep, misfiring and the fuel economy went south real quick. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. It's likely the solenoid valves, a faulty timing chain, or something affecting the inlet camshaft. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks a bunch! I took it to the shop. You were right, it was a faulty camshaft solenoid valve. They also checked the power supply, all good. 250€ later and she's running smoothly again. Really appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my C5. Could be the camshaft solenoid valves, or maybe the power supply to them is dodgy. Is the engine running rough?
