C5 injection fault

My 2003 Citroen C5 with a gasoline engine is showing some worrying signs. The injection system seems faulty. I'm experiencing higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, it sometimes stalls at idle, and there's smoke when accelerating. I've checked the usual suspects, air filter looks fine. Could this be a faulty sensor or perhaps a fuel injector issue? Mileage is at 158668 km.

Whoa, those are exactly the symptoms I had with my C5! Check the cable or plug connection of the components – that could be causing your issues. Is there maybe some kind of defect there?

Thanks for the tip! Which components specifically? I've visually inspected most of the engine bay, but maybe I missed something. Did you experience any specific error codes or other indicators that pointed you to the cable or plug connection?

Dude, for me, it was indeed the connector near the fuel injectors. The mechanic told me it wasn't making a good contact. To be honest, I'm not comfortable fiddling with stuff like that, so I'd advise you to go to a workshop before you make things worse! Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on - a defective cable connection was indeed the culprit! 95€ later and it runs like new again.
