C6 Jerking Acceleration Loss of Power

Experiencing jerking when accelerating, check engine light, and reduced power with my 2005 Citroen C6 diesel, 91411 km. Sometimes stalls and runs rough, strong exhaust smell, fault stored. Intake manifold leak?

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2005 Citroen C6 experiencing jerking during acceleration, a check engine light, reduced power, stalling, rough running, and a strong exhaust smell. These symptoms suggest a potential intake manifold leak, especially since the issues worsen when the engine is cold. A recommendation is made to have the manifold pressure checked and to consider replacing the intake manifold, as this resolved similar issues for another individual. A professional diagnosis and repair at a workshop are advised to confirm and address the problem.

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my C6. The jerking and reduced power are dead giveaways. Have you checked the manifold pressure? If the ECU is throwing codes related to that, it's almost certainly the intake manifold. Is it more pronounced when the engine is cold?

I haven't specifically checked the manifold pressure, but I did see a code related to air intake. And yes, the symptoms do seem worse when the engine is cold. Is it possible that the intake manifold is the culprit?

Yep, sounds like the intake manifold to me. Scorching is a common problem. I'd bet that's where your leak is. I ended up biting the bullet and getting mine replaced. Cost me a pretty penny, but it sorted everything out. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop to get it properly diagnosed. They can pressure test the system and confirm the leak.

I appreciate your input! It's reassuring to hear that someone else has experienced the same issue and resolved it. I'll definitely take your advice and bring it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair. The estimated cost is around 1180€. Fingers crossed that replacing the intake manifold will solve the problem!
