C70 Brake Light Failure

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2008 Volvo C70 diesel. The brake lights aren't working, and I'm getting an error message on the infotainment system. The car's also throwing a code related to the brake light switch. It's done 119756 km. I've checked the bulbs, and they seem fine. Could it really just be the switch?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old BMW 3 Series. Same symptoms: brake lights dead and an error code. Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the brake light switch? Sometimes it's just a bit of corrosion causing the problem.

Thanks! I hadn't thought of that. Where exactly is the brake light switch located? I've had a quick look, but can't seem to find it. And is it easy enough to get at? I'm no expert mechanic, but I'm happy to give it a go.

It's usually located up near the brake pedal arm, under the dash. Access can be a bit tight depending on the car. Given it's throwing an error, the switch itself might actually be faulty. Could be worth a workshop visit with the Volvo, I ended up having to replace mine in the end!

Turns out my foot was ever so slightly touching the brake pedal. Moved my position and the errors have gone! So, a lazy resolution, and at a cost of 0€. Thanks for your help, I really appreciated it!
