C70 Camshaft Sensor Corrosion

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2006 Volvo C70 with a gasoline engine. It's hard to start and feels like it lost power. I pulled an error code pointing to the camshaft sensor. It's an older car, so I thought the sensor was bad, but I saw corrosion on the cable and plug. Could that be it? It has 167976 km.

Sounds familiar! I had the same thing happen with my C70. It was a bad connection to the camshaft position sensor, like you're thinking. Try cleaning the contacts and using dielectric grease. Check the wiring for damage, too. Is it misfiring?

Thanks! I haven't cleaned the contacts yet. Wanted to get some ideas first. Did yours happen sometimes, or was it always a problem? Do you remember the error code? I think it's misfiring.

Mine started sometimes, then got worse. The code was for the camshaft position sensor circuit. Since you see corrosion and the symptoms match, get the connection checked by a pro. Could save you from replacing a good sensor. If it's really misfiring, see a mechanic.

Thanks for the help! I took it to a mechanic to check the wiring and sensor. The cable was bad, and it cost 95€ to replace.
