Interesting. Was your Renault's temperature reading also fluctuating, or just consistently off? And did the car diagnostics confirm the sensor was definitely at fault, or did it point to other potential issues too?

The reading was all over the place, like a broken thermometer. After a bit of digging, and given the age of the sensor, I figured it was the most probable cause. Honestly, unless you have the equipment to test the sensor properly, it's probably best to let a workshop have a look. Save yourself the headache.

Understood. Thank you for sharing your experience. I took it to the workshop, and indeed, the intake air temperature sensor was defective. The repair cost 155€, and the car now runs smoothly.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar experience with my old Renault Megane. The symptoms were almost identical – check engine light, sluggish performance, and the error codes pointed to a dodgy air temperature sensor. It's like the car's brain is getting bad weather reports!
