C8 Crankshaft Camshaft Reference Value Error

I'm having some trouble with my 2010 Citroen C8, gasoline engine. I'm getting a 'Crankshaft to Camshaft Reference Value' error. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed reduced engine power, poor response, and higher fuel consumption. Mileage is at 188018 km. I suspect a defective crankshaft sensor, but I'm not 100% certain. Has anyone else experienced this?

Whoa, that sounds rough! Is the timing belt okay? When was the last time you checked or replaced it? A misaligned timing belt can cause similar issues with the crankshaft and camshaft synchronization. Just throwing it out there!

Thanks for the input. The timing belt was replaced about 60,000 km ago. Visually, it looks fine, but I haven't checked the exact alignment. Could a slightly off timing still trigger this error, even if it appears okay?

Yeah, definitely. Even if it looks okay to the naked eye, a slight misalignment can throw off the timing enough to cause that error code and those symptoms. Honestly, with that code popping up and the symptoms you're describing, it might be best to get it checked out by a professional. Could save you a bigger headache down the road!

Appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right – the crankshaft sensor was indeed defective. They replaced it, and the engine is running smoothly again. The total repair cost was 340€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
