C8 Cylinder Pressure Fluctuation
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2005 Citroen C8 diesel experiencing cylinder pressure fluctuation, leading to a check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and reduced engine power. Initial checks on fuel injectors showed no obvious issues, prompting consideration of the timing belt or crankshaft as potential causes. Another owner suggested that the error might be a symptom rather than the root cause, recommending professional diagnosis. Ultimately, the issue was identified as a camshaft problem, which was repaired under warranty.

Interesting. What do you mean by consequential error? So you suggest that the error code I have is not the actual problem? What was the root cause in your case?

Exactly, the cylinder pressure issue might just be a symptom. I never found the real source myself. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they sorted it out. Best to get it checked by a pro.

Okay, thanks for the insight. I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but it sounds like that's the best bet. It turned out to be the camshaft; the repair was fully covered, so I paid nothing!

Hey, I've got a C8 diesel too, and I had similar symptoms a while back. Check engine light, poor performance, the works. For me, it turned out to be a consequential error, masking the real problem. I would check the intake manifold, it is often overlooked.
