C8 Parking Aid Failure

My 2005 Citroen C8 with a gasoline engine has a parking aid system that's stopped working. The system is non-functional, and there's an error stored. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the cause?

I had a similar issue with my C8. The parking sensors went haywire. First, have you checked the sensors themselves for any physical damage or obstructions? Sometimes, dirt or a minor bump can throw them off. Are all the sensors dead, or just one or two?

I haven’t checked the sensors for physical damage. I assumed it was an electrical fault. How would I check the individual sensors?

Each sensor is basically a small ultrasonic transmitter and receiver. Look for any obvious cracks or dents. Also, give them a good clean. Road grime can mess with their readings. If they look okay, it might indeed be a wiring issue. Honestly, chasing electrical gremlins can be a pain. If you're not comfortable with a multimeter, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. I ended up doing that.

Thank you for the information. I followed your advice and took the C8 to a local mechanic. The mechanic found a defective plug connection as expected. The repair cost 95€.
