Camaro Airbag Warning Light
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Chevrolet Camaro owner experienced an airbag warning light on the speedometer and suspected a faulty cable or plug. The issue was likely caused by a disconnected or damaged connector under the seat, which is part of the airbag circuit. After considering the risks of handling airbag systems, the owner took the car to a workshop, where a faulty connector under the driver's seat was identified and repaired, resolving the warning light issue.

Good point about the under-seat connectors! I did remove the seats recently for cleaning. And no accidents. Could a disconnected or damaged seat connector trigger a full system airbag fault? I thought it would be a seat-specific code.

Yeah, absolutely. Those seat connectors are often part of the airbag circuit. A break can light up the general warning. But, if you're not confident, airbags are something you don't want to mess with. Maybe a quick workshop visit is safest?

Good point about things going BANG! I took it to a workshop, they found a faulty connector under the driver's seat, as suspected! 95€ later, the light is gone. Thanks for the cautious advice; I appreciate you keeping me from setting off an airbag!

Airbag lights are never fun. Something similar happened in my old ride. Before using a multimeter, have you checked the basics? Did you recently mess with anything under the seats? Sometimes the connectors get bumped. Also, any recent fender-benders, even small ones?
