I've checked the wiring as best I can, but I don't have much experience with car electrics. The error message appears every time I try to open the tailgate. Is there a specific area of the wiring or plug connection I should focus on? Can I test it without special tools?

Given the consistent error and your lack of experience with electrical systems, I'd suggest taking it to a qualified workshop. A professional can properly diagnose the hall sensor, sensor wiring, and plug connections. They'll be able to test the components thoroughly and pinpoint the problem. It's probably better than trying a repair yourself, which could cause more problems.

I took your advice and brought the Camaro to a local garage. It was a defective plug connection, as you suspected! They replaced it, cleared the error memory, and now the tailgate works perfectly. It cost me 95€, which I think is reasonable. Thanks again for your help!

That sounds frustrating. A faulty hall sensor is common in power tailgates. Have you checked the sensor wiring and plug connections? A defective cable or loose plug could be the problem. Is the error message consistent, or does it appear sometimes?
