Camry clutch pedal switch problems

I'm having trouble with my 2008 Toyota Camry, gasoline engine. The clutch pedal switch seems to be causing issues. I'm getting an error, the gear selection display isn't working, cruise control won't engage, and the engine sometimes won't start. Could this be a defective cable or plug connection? Has anyone seen so many failures from one switch?

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa. The symptoms were different, but the car failed to start sometimes, and there were some weird electronics issues. Could it be a safety feature because the car thinks the clutch isn't engaged? Check if the system thinks the clutch is always disengaged.

A safety mechanism? That's interesting. What do you mean by 'weirdness with the electronics?' Were there similarities to the gear selection display issue I'm having? Or the cruise control failing? I'm curious about the overlap.

With my Corsa, the 'weirdness' was dashboard lights flickering randomly. Nothing related to gear selection or cruise control specifically, but definitely electrical problems. Given the number of issues, and since you seem to have diagnosed it, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. It might be a simple fix, but chasing electrical problems can be a nightmare. Hopefully not too expensive!

Thanks for the input about your Opel. Based on your recommendation and more research, I took it to a mechanic. It was a faulty clutch pedal switch and a corroded connector, as suspected. The repair cost 95€, and everything is working now. I appreciate the help.
