Interesting! How did you figure out it was the electrical bypass valve? Was it hard to diagnose?

The mechanic used a smoke tester, like plumbers use for pipes, and a pressure sensor to check for leaks in the turbo system, like checking if a tire has too little air. He found the actuator faulty. It's probably best to get it checked out by a professional.

Thanks a lot for the advice! Took it to the mechanic, and you were spot on – it was a faulty boost pressure actuator. The electrical bypass valve was also defective. Cost me about 250€ to get it fixed. Appreciate the help!

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Subaru Outback – not exactly the same car, but same symptoms: Check engine light, power loss, and weird noises. Turned out to be a defective electrical bypass valve. Check if that part isn't defective.
