Camry Overheating Slow Warmup

I'm having some trouble with my 2003 Toyota Camry, gasoline engine. It's only done 52213 km. I think there's something wrong with the temperature control. I've noticed the engine is overheating, and it also takes a long time to reach operating temperature. I checked the coolant level, and that seems fine. The cooling fan seems to be working too. Any ideas?

Sounds like a thermostat issue. Is the temperature gauge fluctuating a lot, or is it pretty stable once it finally warms up? Have you checked the thermostat housing for any leaks?

The temperature gauge is pretty stable once it warms up, just takes ages to get there. I haven't checked the thermostat housing specifically, but I didn't notice any obvious leaks around the engine. Is there a way to test the thermostat itself?

Yeah, those are classic thermostat symptoms. Given the age of the car, it's likely a defective map thermostat, especially if you're not seeing leaks. Honestly, testing it yourself can be a pain. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and replace the thermostat. Could be the cooling circuit motor that failed.
