Camry rear window defrost error

I've got a Camry too (not sure of the year, though) and had a similar heating issue last winter. Has your battery been giving you any other trouble, like slow starts or dimming lights? It could be a heating coil issue, but a weak battery can definitely cause weird electrical problems, especially with all the hybrid systems.

Definitely! In my case, the auto defrost and other seemingly unrelated systems started acting strangely before the car eventually wouldn't start at all. If your battery's on its way out, that's almost certainly affecting the rear window heating. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. If it is the battery, it may be heavily discharged or defective. I got the same error and the final repair cost was around 290€.
