Captiva automatic transmission issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Chevrolet Captiva is experiencing starting issues, potentially linked to the automatic transmission's parking position. The check engine light is on, and the gearbox appears to slip, with an error stored. Possible causes include a faulty transmission sensor related to the park/neutral switch or a malfunctioning control unit. It is advised to have the vehicle diagnosed at a workshop to confirm the issue and proceed with necessary repairs.

Thanks. It's a consistent problem now, and the transmission fluid level seems fine. What caused the problem in your case? What fixed your Captiva?

Mine was a faulty transmission sensor related to the park/neutral switch. The car didn't think it was in Park or Neutral, so it wouldn't start. With your symptoms and the error code, it's likely similar or maybe the control unit like you said. Get it diagnosed at a workshop to be sure.

I appreciate the information. I suspected something like that. I'll take it to a mechanic for diagnosis and repair. I'm guessing it'll cost around 1000€. Thanks!

I had a similar problem with my Captiva. Engine wouldn't start, and the check engine light was on. Does it happen sometimes, or is it a consistent problem now? Have you checked the transmission fluid level?
